Wilderness cottage in the heart of Lapland
Riekkojärvi is our wilderness cottage. It is a modest, but practical little cabin on the Rievssatjársuolu island by the Riekkojärvi lake, the real fisherman’s dream. The cottage is perfect for fishing and willow grouse hunting trips, or just for hikers who want to enjoy the Kaldoaivi wilderness.

Well-equipped wilderness cottage in the middle of Lapland’s nature
The cottage is located along a snowmobile trail and a mountain bike trail. As a wilderness cottage, the very well-equipped cottage is suitable for fishermen, hikers and all wilderness visitors, it is also a good base for mountain bikers and snowmobilers.
There is also two boats for quests to use.

Relax in the cottage’s private sauna
There is a wilderness sauna in the courtyard, which gives good steam. Water is taken from the river on the west side of the cottage. There is also an outdoor toilet in the yard.
And remember, the mobile phones don’t work well here…

Riekkojärvi wilderness cottage is well equipped for a wilderness cottage.
And please remember, it is a wilderness cottage custom to leave the cottage even more tidy when you leave, so when the next hiker will arrive tired, cold and hungry, he/she can get settled away. Leave the firewood ready inside and make the dishes, clean the counters and sweep the floors.
Arriving at Riekkojärvi wilderness cottage
You can get to the cottage by hiking (that takes about 4,5 to 6 hours) or with mountain bikes, and in winter times with a snowmobile or you can use skis too. The route is 15-25 km long, depending on whether the starting point is Skalluvaara or Utsjoki.
